National Day LONG tour 2012

11 days/ 9 nights in DPRK+1 night at the train

Pyongyang– Panmunjom – Kaesong – Myohyang – Pyongyang – Mt.Paekdu – Mt.Chilbo – Pyongyang

Note please! Slight changes in the itinerary are possible after arrival in DPRK.   

Day 1 (Thu, Sep 6) - Arrive in Pyongyang by flight JS 252 at 17:10. Meet guides at Sunan airport. Sightseeing city-tour with Arch Triumph (three meter higher than in Paris) andMonument of Party Foundation.Check in and dinner at the Yanggakdo 4* Hotel. Expected ARIRANG MASS GAMES*.

Day 2 (Fri, Sep 7) – Breakfast.Drive to Panmunjom (village, where the 1953 armistice that halted the Korea War was signed), DMZ on the 38 parallel, Concrete wall. Drive to Kaesong - ancient capital of the first unified state on the Korean peninsula (Koryo) and home of Koryo insam (Ginseng). Lunch at Tongil Restaurant with national Korean cuisine Pansanggi. King Kongmin Tomb, Janamsan Park with wonderful view. Back to Pyongyang. Dinner at Mangyondae Restaurant.

Day 3 (Sat, Sep 8) - Breakfast. Drive to Myohyang Mountains. International Friendship Exhibition (halls of gifts to Eternal President Kim Il Sung and Dear Leader Kim Jong Il), Buddhist Temple Pohyon from 11th century. Lunch at Hyangsan Hotel 3*. Back to Pyongyang. Korean War Museum with animated 1:200 models (moving soldiers, blasting bombs and revolutionary music), Bowling center. Dinner at Chongryu Restaurant (Hot Pot).

Day 4 (Sun, Sep 9) – National Day – 64th anniversary of Foundation of Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea. Breakfast. KumsusanMemorial Palace - Mausoleum of President Kim Il Sung (no T-shirts, jeans, miniskirts etc.), Mansudae Grand Monument (flowers presented at 20 m high bronze statue of President Kim Il Sung),Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery (memorial to revolutionaries who fought against Japanese occupation). Lunch on the Boat Restaurant Pyongyang № 1. US spy ship "Pueblo" (captured by North Korea in1968), Pyongyang’s Metro (probably the deepest in the world, some stations about 150 m under surface), Juche Tower (150 m high view over the city, lift is 5 EUR/person). Book & Stamp Shop (you can ask about some "propaganda" posters there). Expected Mass Dance Evening at the Kim Il Sung's Square. Dinner at Duck Restaurant.

Day 5 (Mon, Sep 10) - Breakfast. Grand People’s Study House (people’s library), Art Gallery (from historical pieces to anti-imperialist art), Mangyongdae Native House (birthplace of President Kim Il Sung). Picnic lunch on Ryongak Hill. Mansudae Art Studio, Middle School with children’s performance, walking in Fountain Park. Dinner at the restaurant.

Day 6 (Tue, Sep 11) - Breakfast. Special charter flight (1 hr) to sacred Mt.Paekdu – the highest peak on the Korean Peninsula (2744 m). Arrive at Samjiyon airport and drive to mountain Paekdu. We will take funicular railway (10 EUR/person) at the foot to get to the top and then down to the Crater Lake Chon by cable car (5 EUR/person) or by stairs (free). Lake Chon (it means Paradise Lake) is the highest and at the same time the deepest Crater Lake in the world (348 m depth). Picnic lunch. Secret Camp of Korean Guerillas (anti-Japanese revolutionary movement), birthplace of Dear Leader Kim Jong Il, slogan trees. Drive to Samjiyon and check in at Pegaebong 3* Hotel. Dinner.

Day 7 (Wed, Sep 12) - Breakfast. Museum Paekdu, Lake Samji with Samjiyon Grand Monument (probably the biggest bronze statue of Great Leader Kim Il Sung), Rimyongsu Waterfalls. Lunch. Charter flight to Orang airport – the nearest to Mt. Chilbo (about 45 min), which is one of the 6 most beautiful Korean mountains.  It is called Chilbo or Seven Treasures from old times because 7 treasures including gold, silver and copper are buried there or it looks like a bride decorated with seven treasures. Arrive at Orang airport and drive through the mountains to Sea Chilbo. Rest on the beach, dinner and overnight at Homestay village – local families’ houses.

Day 8 (Thu, Sep 13) – Breakfast. Drive to Inner Chilbo, Kaesim Buddhist Temple, Sungson Pavilion (amazing scenery), trekking in the mountains with picnic lunch. Drive to Orang airport (about 3 hrs). Return charter flight to Pyongyang. Rest and dinner at Diplomatic Club.

Day 9 (Fri, Sep 14) – Breakfast. Korean Film Studio, Three Revolutions Exhibition (ideological, technical and cultural halls), new Monument to Dear Leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill. Lunch at the restaurant. Pyongyang Shooting range, Department Store, Goodbye stroll through Pyongyang: Kim Il Sung Square, Taedong River bank. Farewell dinner. Overnight at Yanggakdo 4* Hotel.

Day 10 (Sat, Sep 15) - Breakfast. Transfer to Pyongyang main railway station and departure at 10:10 am.

Day 11 (Sun, Sep 16)- Arrive to Beijing at 9:40 am.
