May Day tour 2012

April 28 (Sat) - May 3/4 (Thur/Fri)                                                                        Flight in/ train out                  

Pyongyang – Kaesong – Panmunjom - Mt.Myohyang - Pyongyang

Note please! Slight changes in the itinerary are possible after arrival in DPRK and beyond our control.

Day 1 (Sat, 28th April) - arrive in Pyongyang by Air Koryo flight JS 152 at 16:00. Meet guides at Sunan airport. Sightseeing city-tour with visiting Mansudae Grand Monument (flowers presented at 20 m high bronze statue of President Kim Il Sung)and Arch Triumph (three meter higher than the one in Paris). Check in and dinner at the Yanggakdo 4* Hotel.

Day 2 (Sun, 29th April) – Breakfast. Kumsusan Memorial Palace - Mausoleum of President Kim Il Sung (please no T-shirts, jeans, miniskirts etc.),Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery (memorial to revolutionaries who fought against Japanese occupation). Lunch at the restaurant. Drive to Kaesong - ancient capital of the first unified state on the Korean peninsula (Koryo) and home of Koryo insam (Ginseng). City tour, King Kongmin Tomb, Janamsang Park with beautiful view. Check in Folk Custom Hotel 3* with heated floor (no beds!) and dinner.

Day 3 (Mon, 30th April) – Breakfast. Drive to Panmunjom (village, where the 1953 armistice that halted the Korea War was signed) and visit DMZ on the 38 parallel, Concrete wall. Lunch at Tongil (“Reunification”) Restaurant with national Korean cuisine Pansanggi. Back to Pyongyang. Korean War Museum with animated 1:200 models (moving soldiers, blasting bombs and revolutionary music), Grand People’s Study House (people’s library). Dinner at the restaurant.

Day 4 (Tue, 1st May) - May Day Holiday. Breakfast. Party Foundation Monument, Juche Tower (150 m high view over the city, lift is 5 Euro/person), Friendship Festival in Daesong Park - performance of Korean artists, mass May Day celebrations with national games and competitions (you can join in!). Lunch at the restaurant. US spy ship “Pueblo” (captured by North Korea in1968), Pyongyang's Metro (probably the deepest and the most beautiful subway in the world-wall size mosaic paintings and marble everywhere,some stations about 150 m under surface), Schoolchildren's Palace tour with children's performance, Expected Mass Dance Evening at the Kim Il Sung's Square. Dinner at Chongryu Restaurant (Hot Pot).

Day 5 (Wed, 2nd May) - Breakfast. Drive to Myohyang mountains. International Friendship Exhibition (Halls of gifts to Eternal President Kim Il Sung and Dear Leader Kim Jong Il), Buddhist Temple Pohyon from 11th century. Lunch in Hyangsan 3* Hotel. Back to Pyongyang. Book&Stamp Shop (you can ask about some "propaganda" posters there), Department Store, Goodbye walking around Kim Il Sung Square (you can see there large Lenin, Marx and Kim Il Sung posters). Farewell Dinner at Duck Restaurant.

Day 6 (Thur, 3rd May) - Breakfast. Transfer to railway station; departure from Pyongyang by train at 10:10am.

Day 7 (Fri, 4th May)- Arrive in Beijing at 8:35 am.
